FREEDOM TO LIVE FOR CHRIST

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

The Father loves his Son and has put everything into his hands. And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.

John 3:35-36 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

There are some powerful truths in this passage spoken by Jesus about Jesus. First, the Father loves Jesus. There is no disconnect between God the Father and God the Son. They are one.

Secondly, God the Father has placed everything into the hands of God the Son. Jesus is the ruler of all things. He is King of kings, Lord of lords, and supreme leader of the universe.

Thirdly, we have a choice to obey Jesus and enjoy eternal life or rebel against Jesus and receive God’s angry judgment. We have a choice. God has given each of us a free-will. When we exercise our free-will to declare Jesus as Savior and Lord we release God’s grace into our lives.

I believe grace is the desire and ability to please God. The Holy Spirit brings grace to give us the desire to please God. Grace will not force us to obey. We can reject grace. But once we accept grace we are then empowered to be transformed. 

Jesus came to earth to provide a means for humanity to be transformed from the control of sin to the freedom of grace. We are no longer slaves to our flesh; we are new creations in Christ. We are born again free from the control and consequences of sin.

This knowledge should lead us to daily gives thanks for the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. We should live each day with gratitude.
