JESUS IS MY REDEEMER

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

TODAY’S THOUGHT

The Bible is very clear that the wage of sin is death (Romans 6:23) and we have all sinned (Romans 3:23). Death in the Bible has two components—spiritual and physical. Both components involve separation. When we sin, we are separated from God. Because of sin mankind was cursed to died physically—this is when the real us (spirit and soul) are separated from our physical body. But God loved us so much He gave His Son Jesus to die on the cross to pay for our sins. Through the death of Jesus, we have been made alive. We are born-again as new creations in Christ. Satan thought he had won when he tempted Adam and Eve in the garden and got them to sin. He knew death had entered the human equation. But God judged Satan in the garden and prophesied of a coming Redeemer Who would crush Satan’s head. Jesus is our Redeemer. Jesus has “disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities.” Think about that—those forces that want to keep us in death and slavery have been disarmed. Jesus has already conquered every foe that tries to defeat us. We are victorious through Jesus. We can live in freedom. I declare today that I am free from the control and consequences of sin. I have the right to live victorious in every area of my life. I am a child of God.

Holy Spirit teach me to live in the victory Jesus purchased for me. Help me to be totally free from every bondage of sin.
