LOOK AROUND YOU
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Romans 1:20 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
This is an interesting passage to include in a study on Christmas. Two thousand years ago there were some scholars who studied the stars and determined an unusual appearance of a star was the signal of God’s activity on earth. These men are called magi in Scripture. They had studied Jewish prophets from centuries before who talked about the coming of a special king that would be marked by a distinctive star in the heavens. Because of the information these magi gained in studying the stars they make a long trip to a small, insignificant country in search of this particular king. It was what they saw in the stars that made them seek for this king. For thousands of years men and women have discovered fresh revelations of God through His creation. When we look at the vastness of the heavens, the peaks of the mountains, and the power of the ocean waves we are prone to believe there must be a Creator for such a unique creation. When you see the order of the universe and our own planet, logic tells us this did not happen by accident. If there is a design, there must be a Designer. Just like those magi from two thousand years ago, perhaps we should take some time to look at all of creation around us and get a fresh glimpse of the God we serve.
