OUR WONDERFUL COUNSELOR
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus came to earth to be our Wonderful Counselor. Let’s think about this title given to define His work on earth.
In the Hebrew, the original language of the Old Testament, the words were pel’e ya’ats. The first word means to wonder or marvel at something extraordinary or hard to understand. The second words mean to advise, consult, give counsel, devise, or plan.
As our Wonderful Counselor Jesus came to take what is hard to understand and give us advice and clarity. The life and words of Jesus help us to understand the way God thinks and acts.
As we study the life of Jesus on earth, we can begin to think different. We begin to understand the complex issues of life as we look deeply into His life and teachings.
I believe that when we read the gospels of the life of Jesus clarity can come into our lives. We can begin to see what God is saying to us. The Spgoirit of God in us can teach us and reveal truth to us as we open our minds to God’s Word.
Life is too tough to do alone. We all need a counselor. Let’s invite Jesus to be our Wonderful Counselor this Christmas season.
