LOVE MARKS US AS DIFFERENT
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
Romans 5:5 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Loving others is sometimes hard. There are some people that are hard to love. In our human flesh there are those whose personality and life choices are very different from ours, so we struggle to understand or love them.
This is where we lean into the person and presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Paul tells us God “has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.”
Part of the work of the Holy Spirit in my life is to help me love others. The Holy Spirit tempers my natural likes and dislikes and helps me love others.
I really believe the Holy Spirit can help me to see people the way God sees them. In God’s eyes every person is one of His divine creations. Every human being has value in God’s eyes.
Every mother and father have love for their children. I have seen parents who seem to be blinded to their own kids faults and failures. Their love overlooks the flaws because that is their child.
If we as humans can be this way towards our children, how much more does the perfect Heavenly Father love us? He does see our lack, bad choices, and mistakes but choose to love us anyway.
As we mature as Spirit-filled followers of Christ we should reflect more and more the love of God to each human being. Love should be the one quality that marks us as different from the rest of the world.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit fill me fresh today with Your love. Help me to see others as You see them. Help me to love others as You love them.
