ALIGNMENT WITH THE WORD
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot— yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
Isaiah 11:1-2 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
The prophet Isaiah gives an amazing prophetic message concerning the coming of Jesus, God’s Son, to earth. Jesus was to come from the lineage of David—the old root. But Jesus would have the “Spirit of the Lord” resting on Him. This Spirit would give Jesus wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord. Jesus has promised this same Spirit to dwell in us who choose to be followers of Christ. We can receive the Spirit of the Lord. The Holy Spirit will give us wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord. To me this means we will have the information we need to make good decisions and live with a holy reverence of God’s Word. It will not be a fear that leads to anxiety or depression. The fear of the Lord will be a reverence that will lead to a desire to have a life in alignment with God’s Word. When we live with Jesus as Lord of our lives we live in alignment with God’s Word. This alignment is what brings peace into our lives. We have no shame, guilt, or condemnation. We can live in freedom. This is what Jesus has come to give anyone and everyone who chooses to surrender to His Lordship in our lives. If you want to know peace this Christmas season, begin with putting Jesus in charge of your life. Get in alignment with His Word.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit I ask for You to work in and through me so that I can live in the peace Jesus brings by living in alignment with Your Word. Show me any and all areas of my life that need to get into alignment.
