GOD IS FIGHTING FOR US

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are. In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.
1 Peter 5:6-10 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
God wants us to live on a firm foundation. Sometimes it feels like our world is spinning out of control. It may appear we are about to drown in an avalanche of worry and anxiety because of the uncertainty of tomorrow.
I am here to remind us that our God is fighting for us. Our job begins by humbling ourselves “under the mighty power of God.” That means we admit we can’t do this ourselves and we need His intervention in our lives. We yield to God’s way of handling our life. We stop trying to do things our way and instead we ask the Holy Spirit to show us what to do and when to do it.
As we humble ourselves before God, we give Him all our worries and cares. We refuse to carry worry, fear, and anxiety. We give them to Him. (I know this is not a one-time job, I must do this on a daily basis. Sometimes I lay them down in prayer and then pick them up as I leave. I must turn around and lay them back down.)
We humble ourselves, release our worries, and then “stand firm” against the Devil. We have a real enemy. We need to acknowledge He is against us and don’t be surprised when he attacks. Daily we must be in God’s Word, spend time with the Spirit in prayer, and spend time with other believers who are building us up. Don’t fight this battle by yourself.
I will admit it is easier to write this devotion than to practice. We daily decide we are going to do the right things even when it appears that nothing changes. Each day we do the right little things that eventually gives us the breakthrough. We keep giving God our worries and fears and then one day we are flooded with peace—even though the situation hasn’t changed.
Faith is our ability to believe God is working when we don’t see Him working. We can trust the heart of our God even when we are imperfect. Our humility involves confession and repentance so that we can stand in clean expectation before God.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit I declare that You are my strength and source. You are my Deliverer. I refuse to carry fear, worry, or anxiety. I am more than a conqueror because You fight my battles. I am trusting in You.

Day by day I am releasing worry, fear, and anxiety.
I really need to get right Lord !
