GOD MOMENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”
Acts of the Apostles 16:29-31 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Paul and Silas went to Philippi to preach the gospel. They had tried to go to Asia, but the Holy Spirit kept them from going where they wanted to go. They had then tried to go to Bithynia, but the Spirit blocked that direction. They went to Troas where Paul has a vision of a man of Macedonia begging him to come over to Macedonia. The next day they head to Macedonia. These events led them to the city of Philippi.
As they begin to share the gospel in Philippi people get saved and a woman with a demonic spirit is delivered. This stirs up some controversy in town. Paul and Silas are arrested, beaten, and thrown in prison. But God miraculously visits the prison and breaks off their chains and sets them free. This miracle of God’s freedom convinces the jailor of God’s power and he and his family are saved and transformed.
The point I want us to see is the many workings of the Holy Spirit that got Paul and Silas to Philippi—that was not where they wanted to go. And the Spirit worked to bring miracles of salvation and deliverance that launched the Church in Philippi.
We must never forget that the transformation of lives and building of the church is a supernatural event. People are not transformed because of our personality, wisdom, or talent. It is when we become yielded to the direction of the Spirit that we become instruments to accomplish God’s will in our world.
I am praying this year that every week I will have “God-moments” outside of a church building where I get to talk to someone about Jesus. I want 52 God-moments this year.
Can you believe God to use you in a God-moment? A moment when you have a conversation that leads to Jesus.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit direct my life. Direct my conversations. Direct where I go and who I talk to. Help me to have eyes open to the God-moments You want to send my way.
