FOLLOW THE SPIRIT’S LEADING IN EVERY PART OF OUR LIFE

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.
Galatians 5:25-26 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
The life that Jesus promises His followers is one of “Infinitely More.” Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we discover God lives in us and can do infinitely more than we might ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
But this “infinitely more” life means we can’t pick and choose the areas of our life that we want to follow God’s will and plan. We must “follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”
This means in my finances, recreation, relationships, physical health, habits, entertainment, and every area of my life I must follow the Spirit’s leading.
One way to check if I am following the Spirit’s leading is in my relationships with others. The Spirit will not lead me into attitudes of conceit, provoking others, or jealousy. So that means I will practice humility if I am led by the Spirit.
The Message translation of verse 26 says, “That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse.”
Perhaps the most telling sign of being led by the Spirit is how I react with others. When I see someone full of pride, arrogance, and self-promotion I immediately send up a red flag in my mind. There is something wrong in their spirit. That attitude is not from the Holy Spirit. They have allowed another spirit to take charge in their lives.
When pride and arrogance are demonstrated in someone’s life you can be sure there are other areas that are not in agreement with God’s will and Word. Sin will use the door of pride to mess up lots of things in our lives.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit please help me to follow You in every area of my life. Forgive me for pride, arrogance, jealousy, and anything that would harm my relationship with You. I want every area of my life to be pleasing to Father God. I want to experience a life of infinitely more.
