PRAYERS THAT BRING GLORY TO GOD
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Why are so many of our prayers not answered?
I believe the reason is we are not praying prayers that bring glory to God. The prayers that touch the heart of God are prayers that want to see Him receive glory.
Let’s say we are praying for financial blessings on our lives. Are we asking for a raise or new job so that we can live more comfortably? Or are we asking for financial blessings in order to advance His kingdom through our tithing and giving to missions?
Let’s say we are praying about our physical health. Are we asking for healing to make us more comfortable or so that our bodies do not interfere with our ability to do God’s work on earth?
Our time of prayer and fasting should be to get our desires in greater alignment with God and thus bring glory to God with our prayers. Our prayers begin to change when we choose to invest our time, talent, and treasure for the glory of God. Instead of wanting comfort or recognition for ourselves we begin to ask what can be done in and through my life that will make a greater impact for God’s kingdom.
How can my life bring greater glory to God? This should motivate my prayers.
