AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIPS

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Let’s talk a moment of the importance of fellowship in our lives.
Biblical fellowship is experiencing life together. It includes unselfish loving, honest sharing, practical serving, sacrificial giving, sympathetic comforting, and all the other "one another" commands found in the New Testament.
When it comes to fellowship size really does matter. We can worship in a large group, but we can only truly fellowship in a small group. We can’t have honest sharing and practical serving in a large group. It is practically impossible to maintain authentic meaningful relationships in a large group.
This is why it is crucial to not only be a part of corporate worship service in a church setting but also to be a part of a small group, Sunday School class, or Bible study. In the small group we discover the truth of our passage today—God is present when two or three gather as His followers.
I love the times of corporate worship where we worship, pray, and receive teaching from the Word of God. There is great motivation and inspiration from such a setting. But I also love sitting in my living room with eight to ten other believers and talking about how God’s Word impacts my daily life.
Some of the greatest spiritual moments of my life have been in a small group of believers who love Jesus and love each other. I have been a part of great spiritual breakthroughs in a small group. Times of tears, laughter, and listening to each other happen in small groups.
Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you don’t need others in your spiritual journey. Life is too tough to do alone. We were created to be a part of the body of Christ. For the physical body to function each part has to be intimately connected to the whole. It is the same in the spiritual body of Christ.
I really am better connected to other believers in meaningful authentic relationships. These relationships can only thrive through small groups.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit show me the group of believers that You want me to relate to. Help me to open my life to authentic meaningful relationships.
