WILL YOU CHOOSE TO FORGIVE
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever been hurt by someone you trusted and cared about?
What could happen in our lives if we really put this verse into practice?
What if we decided we were going to “make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you?” Could we decide right now that whatever anyone says or does, we choose to forgive? We refuse to carry a grudge. We refuse to bring up past failures. We refuse to plot our revenge. We refuse to wait until they ask for forgiveness. We refuse to carry the weight of unforgiveness.
Paul adds a statement to help us navigate the injustices that will come against us. He reminds us that God has forgiven us. It is easy to forget how much grace and mercy we have been shown. To forget that God loved us and sent Jesus to die for our sins way before we confessed and repented of our sins. Before we made a decision to ask for forgiveness our Father God gave us forgiveness.
Satan works hard to divide the family of God. He works to plant seeds of discontent and division. He wants us to be divided and choose sides and attack each other.
Our Heavenly Father wants us to live in peace with each other. To accept each other’s imperfections, weaknesses, and failures. And to love each other the same way He has loved us.
We must be careful to understand there is a big difference between forgiveness and trust. Forgiveness deals with the past and trust deals with the future. Forgiveness is commanded to be given immediately so that we don’t carry the weight and burden of anger, hurt, and bitterness. But trust is earned over time. We can forgive and still set boundaries until someone earns our trust.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit help me to acknowledge any unforgiveness in my life. Help me to give any hurts or disappointments to You and release forgiveness. Give me the courage to forgive and the wisdom to establish necessary boundaries.
