WHINE OR SHINE
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
Philippians 2:14-15 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
What if we decided we were going to shine not whine? We live in a culture that seems to thrive on whining about everything. If you scan through social media people are whining about almost everything. Paul calls those of us who are followers of Christ to be different. He calls us to “do everything without complaining and arguing.” Then he wants us to “live clean, innocent lives” so that we can be “shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.” The best way to correct the wrongs of society is to show them a better way to live. Our attitude and actions can transform a culture better than by our whining, attacks, and criticism. The Church as designed by Jesus Christ has thrived historically not because of beautiful buildings or programs but because of the pure devotion to love people. We have never been perfect people. Let’s admit our weaknesses and choose to live a life a love. There should be a marked difference in our lives from the lives of our world. We should be the ones setting a new standard of life instead of adopting the world’s standards.
