ALLOW GOD TO BE GLORIFIED

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by. I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me. He will send help from heaven to rescue me, disgracing those who hound me. Interlude. My God will send forth his unfailing love and faithfulness. I am surrounded by fierce lions who greedily devour human prey— whose teeth pierce like spears and arrows, and whose tongues cut like swords. Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens! May your glory shine over all the earth.

Psalms 57:1-5 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

This Psalm says it was written in the time when David was hiding from Saul in a cave. We don’t know the cave or the exact time, but it was obviously during the period where Saul was jealous of David and trying to kill him. David was fleeing for his life after being unjustly criticized by Saul.

David chooses to cry out to the mercy of God. David declared that God was his protector. He also acknowledged that God was the “Most High” who would “fulfill his purpose for me.”

In our times of difficulty, it is crucial to remind ourselves who God is. We need to remember that He is the “Most High”—there is no god like Him and no force or person that can stand against our God. He is our God who has a purpose for our lives. God does not give any human the power to destroy HIs will for our lives.

The only person that can hinder God’s purpose for my life is me. When I fail and repent God’s mercy steps in to restore and work miracles to complete the assignment God has for my life.

Our desire should be to allow God to be glorified in through our lives. Instead of trying to force God’s will through human efforts we often need to rely on the mercy of God to protect us and provide for us. Then God will be exalted when people see the mercy of God.

God is for you! God wants to fulfill His purpose in your life! God wants to receive glory because of His mercy working through your life.
