GOD’S PROSPERITY

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

This is one of the best-known verses in the Bible. Even non-church goers usually know this verse. But this passage is foundational to our faith and God’s plan for our lives in so many ways. First we learn that God is a loving God. He is not vindictive or angry with humanity even in our sinful state. Second we learn that God is loving to everyone—the entire world. Third, we learn that God’s love motivated Him to give the best gift He had—His Son. Fourth, we learn that Jesus coming to earth to die for our sins was the means by which we can have eternal life. This is God’s gift for every human being. This eternal life is not just something we get when we die. This eternal life is a way of living in the here and now. God wants everyone of His children to enjoy a new quality of life that brings prosperity to every area of our lives. When we think of prosperity, we often limit it to the financial area of life. We think of our net worth in terms of the amount of money we have minus the debts we owe. Hopefully on this scale our positive cash outweighs what we owe. But God’s value of us is more than the size of our bank account or our financial net worth. God says we are valuable because He has loved us and given Jesus to die for us. He wants to give us eternal life—His life of prosperity that impacts our finances; relationships; physical, mental, and emotional health; and our spiritual life. God’s view of prosperity starts when we accept His gift of eternal life through the Lord Jesus. We can’t have true prosperity if we are not in relationship with our Heavenly Father.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord Jesus, I declare that You are Lord. You are the Son of God Who died on the cross to pay the price for my sins. I ask You to be my Savior and Lord. I ask You to forgive my sins. I invite the Holy Spirit to take charge of my life. I want Your prosperity in my life.
