ALLOW TRUTH TO TRANSFORM OUR HEARTS
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.
James 2:19 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Faith is more than intellectual agreement or knowledge. There are a lot of people who claim to believe in God, Jesus, and the Bible. Many take classes to learn about theology and doctrine. While training our intellect is an important part of being followers of Jesus that does not make us a true follower.
I believe many people will miss heaven by 18 inches—the distance between their head and their heart. They have intellectually agreed with the concepts of faith and religion, but they have never allowed those truths to transform their heart.
Jesus did not come to give us a doctrine or religion. Jesus came to transform us from death to life. We are told that the just shall live by faith—it is not an intellectual agreement with a theology but a faith in the truths of God.
When our hearts are transformed, we begin to think, talk, and act differently. We become committed to a relationship with Jesus through the person of the Holy Spirit and the written Word of God. We desire to know Him better and serve Him more.
James makes this point with sarcasm when he says, “You believe there is one God. Good for you! Even the Demons believe this, and they tremble.”
Demons believe in God. They believe in His power. Perhaps they believe better than many people who call themselves Christians.
Jesus told us the Holy Spirit would be our Teacher and Guide. When we open our hearts to the Holy Spirit, I believe He will take the truths of God’s Word and explain it to our hearts so we can be transformed by truth. It is crucial to invite the Holy Spirit to teach us. Our human intellect is not enough to understand the principals of God’s truth.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit I want to understand and be transformed by Your truth. I ask You to teach me so that I can be transformed in my thoughts, my talk, and my walk.
