THE AUTHORITY GOD HAS GIVEN US

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!
Psalms 91:13 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
I believe that David is shifting from reminding us about the protection of our Heavenly Father to reminding us about the authority our Father has given to us.
In the New Testament Jesus told us, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall injure you.” (Luke 10:19)
Many followers of Christ do not realize the authority we have been given through the name of Jesus. Because we are children of God, we have the authority of Jesus’ name to trample things that would try to distract us with fear and intimidation.
Lions are powerful animals. They are bold and loud. They create fear just from the sound of their roar. A car accident, sudden sickness, or unexpected expense can roar at us like a lion. But God says we have been given authority of those things that seem impossible to face in our own strength. We come against them in the name of Jesus.
I hate snakes. I don’t like anything that moves that fast on the ground and hides in unexpected places. David tells us the hidden attacks of the enemy don’t have the power to crush us, we are to crush them. We are to use the authority of Jesus’ name to rebuke the attacks of the enemy.
There is no weapon formed against us which shall prosper. We need to learn the authority that has been given to us in Jesus’ name. We need to use that authority to trample every attack that comes against us.
TODAY’S PRAYER
In the name of Jesus, I declare that no weapon formed against me will prosper and that I will trample upon anything the enemy brings against me. I refuse to allow fear to destroy my faith.
