THE PERFECT TIMING OF GOD

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith. It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going.
Hebrews 11:6-8 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Hearing from God doesn’t mean we shut off our brains. God has given each of us a mind so that we can think and process what we hear and experience. The same is true when God directs us to do something that is outside what appears to be logical.
When we think of Noah building a boat for over a hundred years in a location far from water it would appear to be foolish. But it was an act of faith in God’s direction for his life. He had no outward sign of rain. He had never seen rain. But his faith prompted Noah to act in obedience.
Abraham believed God’s direction and traveled to a foreign land that would eventually be the home of the Jewish nation. But Abraham did not live long enough to see the fulfillment of that dream.
Faith means we trust God’s direction, but we also use our intellect. We realize we still must provide for our family and work through the struggles of life. There is no guarantee of instant success when we walk by faith. There is often a gap between the promise and the provision.
Don’t get weary with the process. The process is when we often grow the strongest. This is when we learn to trust the timing of God.
I have discovered God’s timing is rarely the same as mine. But His timing is perfect—my timing is more selfish.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit help me to trust both the promise and the process. Help me to be willing to walk by faith through the process.
