GOD WILL RESCUE US
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
Psalms 34:17-19 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
The good news in this passage—the Lord hears, He rescues, and is close to those in trouble. We like this part of the passage. Next, we get the not so good news — “The righteous person faces many troubles.”
This promise is just as true as the others. Being righteous is not an insulation from trouble. Trouble comes to the just and the unjust. In fact, sometimes it seems the righteous are under specific attacks because they are righteous.
I used to think if I got my life totally together with God, I’d never have another struggle or problem. Every problem meant there was some area I needed to work on. Then reality began to hit, and I realized problems are just a part of life. Instead of trying to avoid all problems I have learned to trust God in the problems.
There will be moments of trouble and heartbreak. But God wants to be close to us during those moments and He will rescue us. Unfortunately, He may not do it on our timeline or in the matter we would like.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit please help me to be at peace in the middle of trouble. Help me to trust Your love and care even when I don’t see things happening the way I’d like to see them happening.
