DON’T HIDE/RUN TO GOD’S LOVE

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters.

Psalms 18:16 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

David wrote this psalm while he was running from Saul with God’s help. It was one of the most difficult times in David’s life. He had done nothing wrong, but he was still fleeing for his life from a man who wanted to kill him.

The story is told of Corrie ten Boom and Betsy ten Boom who were Christians living in the Netherlands during World War II. They hid Jews in their home to protect them from the Nazis.

When they were discovered, not only were the Jews taken to concentration camps but Corrie and Betsy were taken as well, and they spent the rest of the war there. After watching one atrocity after another, Corrie told Betsy, "This place is the pit of hell!" Betsy replied, "There is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper."

Sometimes we think we are in deep waters. Our marriage has hit rock bottom. Our finances are totally gone. Our children have made horrible life choices. Emotionally, physically, financially, and relationally we may feel we are at the bottom—but God’s love can still reach down to us and rescue us.

There is no pit deeper than the love of God. There is no sickness, brokenness, despair, or isolation that is beyond the love of God. He wants to reach to us today and rescue us in the middle of our failure, sickness, and pain.

Don’t hide from God’s love. Run to God’s love.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit I cry out to You today. I trust Your love and mercy. I need You today.
