THE REAL POWER OF THE SPIRITUAL REALM
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
Ephesians 4:22-24 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
The Bible is very clear in its teaching that forgiveness and salvation come through confession and repentance. We confess that we are sinners and can’t save ourselves. We confess that Jesus is the Lord Who died on the cross and rose again to pay the price for our sins. We accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior and turn away from our sin.
We are saved by faith and not by works. Salvation is a gift from the grace and mercy of God.
But we do participate in actions that lead to our spiritual growth. When we take certain steps in the natural it releases action in the supernatural.
In the Old Testament we see Moses with the children of Israel at the Red Sea. God told Moses to stretch his rod over the water. Moses’ act of obedience in stretching out the rod opened the door for God to divide the waters and send a wind to dry up the ground. Moses’ action in the natural opened the door to the supernatural.
We also see Joshua at the Jordan River told by God to send the priests with the ark on their shoulders to step into the water. Their action of stepping into the Jordan River opened the door for God to supernaturally stop the flow of the river and allow them to cross the Jordan.
At the tomb of Lazarus Jesus asked the people to remove the stone from the tomb of Lazarus. When they acted in the natural to remove the stone it opened the door for Jesus to act in the supernatural and put life into a dead body.
Our spiritual growth is always a partnership. We act in the natural and God acts in the supernatural. We do things in the physical realm that opens doors in the spiritual realm.
We practice tithing by bringing the first 10% of our income to God’s house. That physical act releases God to act in the spiritual realm to bless us financially.
We choose to spend time daily reading our Bible and praying. That act in the physical realm opens the door into the spiritual realm for God to give us wisdom and favor.
Every day we can take steps in the physical realm that will open doors in the spiritual realm. The spiritual realm is more real than the physical realm. We get distracted by what we see and think this is the most important. The spiritual realm is where the power lies.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit help me to know what steps I need to take in the physical realm in order to open doors in my life and family for the spiritual realm. Help me to do what I can do to develop the character of Christ in my life. Help me to daily grow to be more like Jesus.
