WRITE A NOTE OF THANKS
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
I always thank my God when I pray for you, Philemon, because I keep hearing about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all of God’s people. And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God’s people.
Philemon 1:4-7 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Paul opens his letter by giving a personal word of thanks for Philemon. He expresses thanks to God for Philemon’s faith and love. Notice that Paul was specific about Philemon’s faith and love. He lets us know that Philemon’s faith and love has resulted in a spirit of generosity that has “refreshed the hearts of God’s people.”
This is a good model for us. We should pause at times and express thanks to those who have inspired us and motivated us. It is sad to wait for someone’s funeral to say nice things about them. Why don’t we take a few minutes and write a card, letter, email, or text to tell someone how much they mean to us?
When we choose to express thanks to someone let’s be specific. Think of ways they have impressed you and enriched your life. Be sure to share specific thoughts of their character or behavior that has impacted you.
Who is it in your life that God has used to bless you? What could you do this week to express thanks to them?
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit help me today to express thanks to those who have had a positive impact on my life.
