SPEAKING WORDS THAT RELEASE BLESSING

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: ‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’ Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.”

Numbers 6:22-27 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

Words have power! Let that sink in for a moment. When God chose to create the universe, we are told in Genesis “God said.” God used words to create from nothing all that is. The medium of creation is the spoken word.

In giving instructions on the role of the priests God tells Moses part of their role was to bless the people. The priests were to speak blessing, protection, favor, and peace over the children of Israel. Then God made this promise, “Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.”God would release the blessing, protection, favor, and peace through the words of mere humans. That is a powerful thought.

In the New Testament we are told that as followers of Christ we are a kingdom of priests. We have been given that role as followers of Christ. The Spirit of God dwells in us. Our words have the power of life and death. We can speak blessing over ourselves and our families. I believe we can speak blessings over communities and nations.

What words are you speaking over yourself and your family? What words are you speaking over your community?

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit I need Your help to speak the right words out of my mouth. I ask You to guide my words today. Help me to speak words that release blessing and life over myself, my family, and those around me.

“Scroll down to share what you feel God is saying based on today’s reading.”
