MORE THAN ONE PART

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body? If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything? But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. How strange a body would be if it had only one part!

1 Corinthians 12:14-19 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

Each of us have a place in the body of Christ. We should see ourselves as a productive part of the body.

Service is the pathway to significance. It is not the duration of your life that matters but the donation of your life. Where you serve is what really makes a difference.

In our culture we are tempted to compare ourselves with others and make excuses as to why we can’t serve. It is easy to find excuses to stay on the sideline instead of getting in the game.

Abraham was old; Jacob was insecure; Leah was unattractive; Joseph was abused; Moses stuttered. Gideon was poor; Samson was codependent; Rahab was immoral; David had an affair and all kinds of family problems. Elijah was suicidal; Jeremiah was depressed; Jonah was reluctant; Naomi was a widow. John the Baptist was eccentric to say the least; Peter was impulsive and hot-tempered; Martha worried a lot. The Samaritan woman had several failed marriages; Zacchaeus was unpopular; Thomas had doubts; Paul had poor health; and Timothy was timid.

Even with all their potential excuses God used each of these people in mighty ways. God can use you and me in the same way. He can work through us to accomplish His work in our world. Give Him a chance to use you.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit show me how my life can make a difference for Your kingdom. Help me today to discover my place of service.

Lord I’m still very imperfect. Thank you for loving me.
