THANK YOU FOR LOVING ME
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
1 John 4:18 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
True freedom in living is not the ability to do whatever we want to do whenever we want to do it. Many people think that is freedom. They think they will be free when they can say whatever they want and do whatever they want. But that is not true freedom.
I propose that true freedom is freedom from guilt, fear, worry, debt, bitterness, anger, jealously, and envy. When we are free in our emotions, we have a deep sense of peace that gives amazing freedom.
How do we get this kind of freedom? We understand and accept the love of God. God demonstrated His love when He sent Jesus, His Son, to the earth to pay the price for our forgiveness and freedom. Jesus’ death on the cross was God’s payment for my sin. When I realize that I am forgiven there is a new sense of freedom in my life.
Many people struggle to accept that God loves us. God knows all my flaws and yet He loves me. He knows all the stuff I’ve tried to hide, everything that embarrasses me, and yet He still loves me.
God’s love for me is my motivation to free myself from sin and selfishness. If I truly love someone, I want what is best for them. I can’t truly love God and be selfish. Being selfish is the root of sin.
Today let’s pause a few moments and think about God’s great love for us. Let’s take a moment to thank God for His love. Let’s worship Him. In doing so we will begin to sense a new level of freedom.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit I want to get a fresh glimpse of God’s incredible love. I don’t fully understand how You could love us unconditionally. But I accept Your love and thank You for loving me.
