TODAY’S THOUGHT
What happens in the spiritual realm when we reach out to help the poor, disenfranchised, and forgotten members of our society?
I propose that reaching out to help the needy is interpreted by God as a spiritual act that releases God to bless our lives. Jesus even told us that when we visit people in prison, feed the hungry, or give clothes to people we are doing all those things to Him. Jesus views our acts of compassion as personal acts of love for Him.
In our society the mentality seems to be, “get all you can, can all you get, and hide the can. “ Maybe life is not all about me and my comfort. Maybe I was put here on earth at this time and place to help those in need.
Maybe God wants to work through me—and you—as followers of Jesus to bring a transformation to our world. What if helping the poor were a major part of who we are, not just something we do from time to time.
I believe we release something in the spiritual realm every time we give a helping hand to a person in need. It is not out of guilt we help others—it is out of compassion. We care because each person is a unique creation of God.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit please show me what I can do to make a difference in my world. Help me to love others around me in tangible ways. Let my life make a difference. I want to release You to bless my life because You can trust me.
