LIVING THE TRUTH
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
But you are not like that, for the Holy One has given you his Spirit, and all of you know the truth. So I am writing to you not because you don’t know the truth but because you know the difference between truth and lies. And who is a liar? Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ. Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist. Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us.
1 John 2:20-25 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
John wants his readers to be reminded the Holy Spirit lives in them and has given them truth. Jesus had promised the Holy Spirit would lead them into all truth (John 16:13). Jesus also said the Holy Spirit would give glory to Jesus because everything He would teach them would come from Jesus (John 16:14). John is adamant that his readers remember that Jesus is truth and anyone who denies that Jesus is the Christ, the Anointed One of God, is a liar. He also wants us to know that you can’t believe in the true God without also believing in Jesus as the Son of God and Savior of the world. God the Father and God the Son go together with God the Spirit. It is vital that we always remain in the truth and not allow confusing voices to distract us from the truth of God’s Word. To know the truth, we must be in God’s Word each day. We must know the Word so that God’s truth can fill our minds and hearts. As we read the Word of God, we must invite the Holy Spirit to teach us what the Word is saying to us. This brings us into fellowship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This releases God’s live to flow through us. After over 40 years of being in ministry I still discover new applications of God’s truth for my life. I don’t read the Word daily simply to get a sermon or lesson to teach. I allow God’s Word to teach me for my daily life. Know the truth so that you can live the truth!

Help me to seek deeper in our Word. For it brings life, peace, and abundance.
Father, when the distractions come today lead me back to You.
I want to be a doer of the Word not just a hearer.
