DO WE LOVE GOD?
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
If you love me, obey my commandments.

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus gives us the motivation for obedience—LOVE.
We should not obey out of fear or manipulation. Our motivation for obedience to the will and ways of God is that we love God.
Because I love my wife, Cindy, I choose to honor her by what I say and do. I choose to not get involved in other relationships. I choose to be honest to her. I choose to respect her. I choose to speak well of her to others. I choose to be kind to her. I make multiple choices every day because I made the big choice to love her.
Because I have chosen to love Father God then other choices will follow. I will choose to honor God with my lifestyle. I will choose not to harm other people because they are His creation. I will choose to treat my body with respect because my body is God’s creation. I choose to live a moral life that will honor my Creator.
I will make choices with my time, talent, and treasure that honors God. I will give regular time to worship God. I will give time to read God’s Word. I will invest the gifts and talents He has given me to help others. I will invest the treasure He has put in my hands to advance His will on this earth.
When we make the big choice to love God then it becomes easier to make the smaller choices. Unless we love someone, or something more than we love God the decisions aren’t that hard.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit please help me to keep my love for You as the priority of my life.
