MORE THAN HEARING
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
James 1:22-25 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
I am convinced most people know far more than they do. We tend to have head knowledge about God and the truths of His Word. We have information but we don’t have action. There is a great truth: information + application = transformation. I remember sitting in classes in college wondering if I would ever use some of the information, I was memorizing to repeat on a test to get a good grade. There was a big change in my education experience after I got in the ministry and went back to further my education. Suddenly I was not just taking in information, but I was applying that information on a weekly basis as I pastored a church. That information was transformational. It was information I immediately put to work in my life. God’s Word was not given to us to be a good book to read when bored or feeling spiritual. God’s Word is to be applied to our lives as a guide for living. When we read the Word of God, we should ask how we can apply this truth to our daily life. God blesses those who do the Word. The blessing is not for those who simply hear the Word, but for those who DO what the Word says. It makes me think of some people in my life who seem to always want advice. They seem to go from person to person asking advice and then do what they want to do anyway. They weren’t seeking wisdom to act on, they were simply trying to find someone to tell them what they wanted to hear. It is better to act on a small part of God’s Word rather than know a lot of scripture and act on none.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit please help me to be a doer of the Word not just a hearer of the Word. Help me apply Your truth to my daily life.

Lord help me not be a hypocrite to the world. someone that wakes up saying I believe, then go into the world and do all the things you say not to. lord help my actions show that I am a believer of you and not of this world.
I want my actions to reflect You in all I do. For then I will receive Your blessings in my life. Thank you Lord
