WHERE AM I COMPROMISING?
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
2 Timothy 3:16 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
In my years of working with people and trying to figure out my own life, I have discovered that human nature tends to slide downward when left to make its own choices. In my years of living, I have seen things that society deemed wrong, and evil changed to acceptable and okay. The moral compass seems to continually digress causing me to wonder if anything will be considered wrong in a few years.
I believe this is why God gave us His Word in written form. A written testimony of what God says is right and wrong.
A wise man told me years ago that our human mind has the capability to rationalize anything we really want to do. I have seen this proven true over and over. I have had the sad task of working with people who found their lives in a mess because they began to compromise little by little. Eventually they destroyed their marriage, finances, and lives because they justified their behavior.
A lot of people find themselves someplace they never intended. They didn’t intend to be addicted to drugs, alcohol, or pornography. They didn’t intend to destroy their marriage and disappoint their children. They didn’t intend to wipe out their family savings because of their gambling addiction. They didn’t intend to ….. You can fill in the blank.
I believe that when I commit to reading God’s Word it will convict me of sin in my life. It will show me to areas in which I am compromising. I will be forced to stop reading the Word or stop my sin.
God’s Word has the power to keep us from finding ourselves someplace we never wanted to be.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit please give me to self-control to daily expose my mind to Your Word. Help me to allow Your Word to shape my thoughts and behavior.
