JEALOUSY INFECTS THE SOUL

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We live in a society that thrives on jealousy. There are constant ads telling us what we need to look like this person or that person. Social media portrays the filtered lives of people who seem to have the perfect life.
We begin to measure our lives by the stuff that others have, and we then become very jealous. Their house, car, clothes, and jewelry make us want what they have.
Solomon reminds us that if we allow jealousy to get into our heart it becomes a cancer in the bones. Realize that when he wrote these words some 3,000 years ago, they had no idea in the medical world that cancer was connected to the marrow of our bones. The Holy Spirit inspired Solomon to declare the horrible impact jealousy can have on a person.
I have discovered the best way to deal with jealousy is to first confess it to God, then ask His help to cleanse my heart, and then I begin to pray blessing over the person. When I can prayer blessing over them and mean it, I have rooted out the jealousy. This takes the assistance of the Holy Spirit.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit please reveal to my heart any root of jealousy. Empower me today to confess and repent of jealousy. Then help me to guard my heart against any future jealousy.
