LET YOUR WILL BE DONE IN MY LIFE, LORD!
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Matthew 6:10 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
The second part of the Lord’s Prayer is to submit our life to the will of God. After we have taken time to praise God for Who He is and what He has done, we are to get our life in alignment with Him.
We should recognize that God has a will for our lives. When He created us, He had a plan in mind. God’s plan for our life is dependent on our willingness to participate in that plan. Many people prefer to ask God to do their will instead of asking for His will.
If you listen to some prayers, it appears that some are asking for their kingdom to come and their will to be done. They almost talk to God as if He was their servant. People who treat God like a servant have never fully encountered the glory of God.
Rick Warren wrote:
“You can pray ‘Your will be done’ in three different ways. 1) You can say it in resentment: ‘Your will be done, but I don't like it.’ 2) You can say it in resignation: ‘Your will be done, because I can't help it.’ 3) Or you can say it in anticipation: ‘Your will be done, because I know it is the best and that's what I want for my life today!’”
I choose number three—God’s will always be the best. He has a will for my life, my family, my friends, my church, my community, and my world. I want to speak God’s will into each of area of my life. I believe as a Spirit-filled follower of Jesus I have authority in His name to bind the spiritual forces of darkness that are hindering God’s will from being done in these areas. Therefore, I am not just asking God to bring His will into my world, but I am speaking against every lie and work of Satan.
Do you believe God has a will for you? Do you believe God’s will is the best plan for your life?
Then let’s start asking for His will to be done. According to Jeremiah 33:3 if we call out to God, He will answer us and tell us great and unsearchable things we don’t know. We can get fresh insight and wisdom about God’s will that is beyond our own human understanding.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, I want Your kingdom to come and Your will to be done in my life and world. I ask You to show me what You are wanting to do in and through my life, my family, my friends, my church, and my community.
